Stats, goals & focus

Habits that help, without the guilt trip

Set a goal if you want one. See your words, sessions and a calendar of writing days. Streaks allow rest days, and a missed day gets a welcome back — never a lecture.

No AI involved Stats and the Lexicon & style lens are counted on our servers from your text. Nothing is sent to an AI provider.

What you get

Stats, goals & focus, in detail

  • Optional daily and weekly goals, and a projected finish date if you set a target
  • Words added, removed and net, session time and a calendar of writing days
  • Streaks with rest days you choose — a planned day off doesn't break anything
  • Sprints with a timer, from the editor's footer
  • Ambient focus sounds for a session — or silence
  • Lexicon & style lens: echo words close together, filter and crutch words, your own watch-list, and readability by chapter
  • Share cards of your report card or Lilac Garden, as square or story-sized images. Numbers and the book's title stay off unless you tick them

How it works

In practice

  1. Choose a goal — or don't

Daily words, weekly words, a finish date. Everything works without one.

  2. Write in sessions

Start a sprint from the editor footer, pick a sound, and the session is counted when you stop.

  3. Look back kindly

The calendar shows the days you wrote. Rest days you planned are marked as rest, not as failures.

  4. Tune the prose yourself

The lens points to repeated words and habits. It shows where; you decide whether to change anything.

Where we draw the line

What it never does

  • Shame you for a missed day or a broken streak
  • Send motivational emails you didn't ask for
  • Rewrite or suggest replacements for your words
  • Treat readability scores as quality scores — they're calibrated for English and only a lens

These follow from our commitments. The studio never writes, suggests or rewrites your prose, anywhere.

Before you start

Questions writers ask

Does deleting words count against me?

Words added and removed are counted separately, so a revision day full of cutting still shows up as real work.

Are my stats shared anywhere?

No. They're private to your account. That includes the November Lilac Garden: your lilac and your numbers are visible only to you. If you make a share card, it's an image you download or share yourself, and it leaves out your numbers and title unless you choose to include them.

Try stats, goals & focus on your own draft

Import your draft from Word, Scrivener, RTF, EPUB or Markdown, or start on a blank page. The 14-day trial needs no card, and your book is exportable from the first word.
