Questions writers ask
Is this a replacement for Vellum or Atticus?
Not for demanding print work. Dedicated formatters offer far more layout control. Our themes are for clean, attractive books and reading copies; many writers draft and revise here, then export a DOCX to their formatter. See the comparison.
Why does the PDF come from my browser?
Modern browsers produce excellent print layouts. The studio prepares the pages; your browser's print dialog saves them as a PDF. Use the same browser for consistent results.
Will my EPUB pass store validation?
We aim for clean, standards-based EPUB files, but stores have their own checks. Always preview and validate before publishing.
Is the device preview exactly what a Kindle or Kobo will show?
No. It shows the same ebook the EPUB contains, reflowed in generic phone, tablet and e-reader frames, so you can catch awkward chapter openings or scene breaks. Every reading app renders a little differently; check the real file on the devices and store previewers you care about.
